PRESS RELEASE FROM THE MAYOR RELATED TO HURRICANE ZETA

Due to hazardous conditions expected within the jurisdiction of the City of Spanish Fort as Hurricane Zeta moves through our area, the Mayor of the City of Spanish Fort strongly recommends that all businesses located along the Causeway be vacated by 7:00 p.m. Several feet of storm surge may be possible for coastal areas within the City, and all residents and businesses adjacent to coastal or waterfront areas or in low lying areas should take precautions. Additionally, Sheriff Hoss Mack has issued a travel advisory for all unincorporated areas within Baldwin County from 8:00 p.m. tonight, October 28, through 5:00 a.m. tomorrow, October 29. All persons should avoid travel during this time. Residents are advised to be aware of possible travel hazards, including downed trees and limbs and potentially downed power lines.

STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED FOR CITY OF SPANISH FORT

The City Council of the City of Spanish Fort declared a State of Emergency at a special called meeting at 7:00 am this morning, October 28, for the corporate limits of the City of Spanish Fort regarding the potential impacts from Hurricane Zeta. This state of emergency will remain in effect until rescinded by the City Council.
HURRICANE ZETA PASSES FOR CAUSEWAY RESIDENTS AND OWNERS

The City of Spanish Fort will be issuing Right-of-Entry passes for Hurricane Zeta for residents/property owners and business owners of the Causeway and Pineda Island. Passes will be issued at Spanish Fort Community Center (7361 Spanish Fort Boulevard) through 3:00 PM today, October 28, and will resume issuing of passes beginning tomorrow, October 29, at 12:00 noon.
Spanish Fort Police Department (30500 State Highway 181, Suite 618) will be issuing passes until 6:00 pm today, October 28, and will resume issuing passes beginning at 8:00 am tomorrow, October 29.
Residents of the Causeway and Pineda Island must bring a photo ID and a current utility bill/deed to Spanish Fort Community Center to obtain a Right-of-Entry pass. Business owners must bring a photo ID and a copy of their current City Business license. Passes are currently limited to two per business or household.
The Spanish Fort Community Center will be closing at 3:00 pm today, October 28, and will re-open tomorrow, October 29, at 12:00 noon.

Due to the potential for tropical storm conditions over the next two days, the Spanish Fort Community Center will be closing at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, and will re-open at 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 29. Any changes to this schedule will be posted as more information becomes available
