The Planning Commission implements the City's Comprehensive Plan by reviewing all zoning, development, and subdivision applications in accordance with the plan, as well as applicable subdivision and zoning regulations. Subdivision Regulations are developed and adopted by the Planning Commission, which has the final vote on all subdivision applications. Zoning is ultimately decided by the City Council; however, the Planning Commission reviews all ordinances, amendments, and zoning applications and forwards a recommendation to the City Council.

The Planning Commission meets the second Monday of each month at the Spanish Fort Community Center (7361 Spanish Fort Boulevard). Meetings begin with an informal work session at 6:00 pm, followed by the regular meeting at 6:30 pm. Informal work sessions are held on the last Monday of the month, as needed, for the review and discussion of issues submitted for consideration on the following month’s meeting agenda. Informal work sessions are held in the Conference Room at Spanish Fort Community Center and begin at 6:00 pm. CLICK HERE to view Planning Commission Meeting agendas.
